Jeep impounded, driver ticketed for going more than 100 km/h in downtown Kamloops

A Saturday night speeder was pulled over in downtown Kamloops and had their vehicle impounded after blowing past the speed limit.

Kamloops RCMP say officers spotted a Jeep "take off" at a high rate of speed along Lansdowne Street on Oct. 23, then attempted to stop it.

Police spotted the vehicle around 10:22 p.m. on Lansdowne, then attempted to pull the drive over on Seymour Street near 1 Avenue, but the driver was speeding away at more than 50 km/h above the speed limit, according to an RCMP media release.

The vehicle was stopped in the 200-block of Seymour Street. The vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver was has been prohibited from driving for 24 hours and handed a ticket for excessive speeding.

Within Kamloops city limits, speed limits are 50 km/h on all municipal streets unless otherwise posted.
