A convoy of Jeeps will be driving through Kamloops this evening to raise awareness about the disappearance of Shannon White.

The 32-year-old woman went missing the morning of Nov. 1. She didn't show up for work at the accounting department at Kamloops Hyundai that morning. The next day RCMP found her Jeep TJ on Nicola Street.

Investigators have confirmed her Jeep left town for around 45-minutes on the morning Nov. 1, just after she was supposed to arrive at work. Her vehicle was seen travelling west on the Trans-Canada Highway prompting police to call in search and rescue volunteers to search the area today. A police presence at the Silver Sage trailer park in Kamloops is also related to the investigation.

White’s friend Brad Hyslop, who is also a Jeep enthusiast, will be participating in the event today, Nov. 12, called the Shannon Awareness Jeep Run.

“I am running around town today getting ready for the run,” he said. “Our vehicles will be sticker-ed up and have posters of Shannon on them. I think it is the wrong time of day because it will be dark but we will still create a stir.”

Hyslop said over 100 participants have signed up for the event on Facebook. He said is grateful for everyone who is supporting the cause and sharing White’s story.

Hyslop said he met White years ago through the Jeep club and the two have been on many runs together, even co-hosting a Jeep run on Canada Day.

“She is very outgoing and very caring,” he said. “She is always willing to lend a hand if you need one. She is an adventurous person who loves exploring in her Jeep and paddling her kayak.

“I think most people are holding onto hope, but statistically this isn’t good. I don't think I'm the only one who has the feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach.”

The Jeep convoy will be leaving the Petro-Canada station at Pineview Valley at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 12 and will travel through Aberdeen, Upper Sahali, Lower Sahali, Downtown and North Kamloops before heading to the Lac du Bois grasslands behind Bachelor Heights.

White’s friends have been busy spreading awareness of White’s disappearance. They recently started an online fundraiser to financially support White’s father who is staying in Kamloops, and to look after her bills.
