PENTICTON - A Penticton business owner plans to officially announce his intention to run for a spot on Penticton city council later this week.
Jason Cox, the owner of The People’s Soda Company, says he will announce the specifics of his candidacy at the Time Winery at noon on Thursday, Aug. 23, but it is anticipated he will run for mayor.
Cox began his campaign last October by hosting several town hall-style meetings which covered a broad range of city issues. He says he has also been talking to residents and business leaders to determine a strategy to move the city forward.
Cox says prior to starting his own business, he worked in the banking industry. He says he holds a Bachelor of Arts in history/politics, philosophy and economics and has served on the Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s municipal elections take place in B.C. on Oct. 20, 2018.
