It's warming up in the Okanagan, but the showers return in time for the weekend

Mostly sunny skies are forecast for the Okanagan today, but clouds roll in tomorrow in time for a showery, cloudy weekend.

There will be a little more warmth in the Okanagan over the next few days, but the warmer temperatures are coming in between grey skies and showers.

Temperatures could hit the 30 Celsius mark by midweek next week, but not before another showery weekend in the valley.

It has been wet. Parts of British Columbia could receive 200 per cent of their normal June rainfall this month, according to The Weather Network. Victoria has received 116 per cent of its total amount of rain for June so far, while Kelowna is currently at 107 per cent of normal, with rain expected on the weekend. Meanwhile, further north in the nation a heat warning has been issued for the community of Kugluktuk on the shore of the Arctic Ocean in Nunavut, where today’s high could reach 25 C.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud in the Okanagan today, June 18, with a high of 27 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 28 C in Penticton, and a low tonight in all three cities of 12 C.

Friday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 26 C in Vernon and Kelowna, and 28 C in Penticton, with a low of 15 C in all three cities.

There is a 60 per cent chance of showers on Saturday with a high of 25 C. More clouds and a 60 per cent chance of showers continue into Saturday night with a low of 14 C.

The showers continue Sunday with a high of 22 C and a low of 14 C, along with a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight.

A sun and cloud mix should return to the Okanagan on Monday with a high to 27 C and a low of 13 C.

A sun and cloud mix with a high of 29 C and a low to 15 C is expected Tuesday, with Wednesday temperatures reaching 30 C under the same sun and cloud mix.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 24 C and lows of 10 C.
