October 24, 2019 - 11:52 AM

Kamloops residents can expect a blustery end to the work week, but the weekend should be seasonally pleasant.

Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan says a low pressure system moving across the province later today, Oct. 24, will bring strong gusty winds that could reach 80 km/h in the Kamloops area.

The winds are expected to increase overnight, peaking around mid-morning tomorrow.

Castellan says skies should clear in time for the weekend, with a high pressure system building into next week.

The expects strong winds have prompted a special weather statement from Environment Canada.

Today in Kamloops you can expect a mix of sun and cloud with winds east at 20 km/h. Today’s high should reach 16 Celsius with an overnight low of 8 C.

That Pacific frontal system is expected to bring strong winds to Kamloops overnight into tomorrow. The wind is expected to pick up tonight with 30 km/h east winds gusting to 50 under partly cloudy skies.

The forecast calls for clouds and showers tomorrow. Strong east winds are expected at 30 km/h gusting to 50 before becoming west at 50 km/h then gusting to 70 later in the morning. The daytime high temperature should reach 13 C, with an overnight low of 6 C.

Saturday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 11 C and a low of -1 C.
