B.C.'s police watchdog is investigating after a man sustained injures following his arrest in Enderby on Remembrance Day.

The suspect suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries during the arrest, according to a media release from the Independent Investigations Office B.C.

RCMP say the man suffered a dog bite and he was transported to hospital for treatment where it was determined he'd also injured his arm.

Independent Investigations Office say that at around 11:30 a.m., Nov. 11, police in Vernon received a report of a man stealing licence plates. The man departed in a grey Dodge Caravan which was later seen travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 97A towards Armstrong.

At around 12 p.m. police located the Dodge Caravan at a property on Canyon Road in Enderby and an hour later the male driver was located.

The Independent Investigations Office says while being arrested the man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The watchdog was notified of the incident the same day and has now commenced an investigation.

The Independent Investigations Office is asking anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact them at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on its website here.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in the province. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
