Investigation into murder outside Penticton high school progressing well: Supt. Hunter

The investigation into the death of a 22-year-old Penticton man whose beaten body was discovered outside of Penticton Secondary School is making good progress, according to the city's top cop.

The death of Taig Savage in early September was “definitely” a tragic event for the Penticton, RCMP Supt. Brian Hunter told city council today, Nov. 16, during an update on the latest crime stats.

The file is progressing very well, he said.

“Some of these investigations are very complex,” Supt. Hunter said. “Complex techniques are being engaged in the community.”

Tracey Savage, the mother of Taig, said the RCMP told her that her son's death was not a result of the drug trade, and he likely did not know the person or people who killed him. Police also told Tracey the circumstances around Taig's final hours may seem confusing right now but that she will be able to make sense of things in court.

Supt. Hunter is also optimistic about the police investigation into a robbery that happened at Esso in Okanagan Falls on Nov. 14.

"I can tell you with video surveillance... that investigation is progressing very well, it will get solved 100% guaranteed and the crew are doing a great job with that."
