Investigation into drug trafficking in Penticton results in arrest

FILE PHOTO- A two week investigation into a drug trafficking operation has resulted in the arrest of a man by Penticton RCMP.

A two week investigation by Penticton RCMP’s Street Enforcement Unit has resulted in the arrest of a man allegedly related to a local drug trafficking operation.

A search warrant was conducted on a suite in the 1000 block of Westminster Avenue in Penticton on Feb. 25 following the investigation, and while officers were undertaking the search, Ryan Chaffey returned to the location and was arrested for trafficking and multiple probation breaches.

Police found evidence of a drug trafficking operation during the search, seizing cutting agents, scales, and empty baggies all used in the packaging of drugs.

“Our SEU officers are working tirelessly to investigate and support charges against those in our community responsible for trafficking dangerous illegal drugs. All our officers will continue to perform drug enforcement in the South Okanagan as this is certainly a contributing factor to crime, and theft of property,” police spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a press release issued this morning, Feb.27.

Chaffey, 41, was held in custody pending a court appearance on Feb. 26 where he was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. He has since been released from custody.
