Intoxicated Kamloops man on train tracks arrested, bear spray seized

Kamloops man behaving suspiciously on train tracks taken into custody to sober up.

A Kamloops man who was found by police intoxicated and carrying a can of bear spray was arrested earlier this week.

Police responded to the area of 2 Avenue and Lorne Street for a report of a man standing on the train tracks acting suspiciously around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1., according to a media release by RCMP.

While en route, a second report was received involving the same suspect. When police located and approached the man, he fled, but officers were able to catch up with him soon after.

As police attempted to talk to the suspect, he allegedly became confrontational and refused to follow commands, including to identify himself, said RCMP.

He was arrested for being intoxicated in public and lodged in cells to sober up safely. A can of bear spray was seized for destruction.
