The 12 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Interior Health region in the last 24 hours is the lowest since November.

At the same time, there were 75 cases recorded in the province as a whole as the vaccination rate for adults over the age of 18 climbed to 77.5 per cent.

When 12 to 18-year-olds are counted in, the vaccination rate has hit 76 per cent.

"Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our shared focus has been to do our part to support each other and take care of the people around us,” states a joint statement issued today, June 24, by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix. “Now, the best way for us to do that is to get fully immunized with two doses of our safe and effective vaccines. It is important to do this as soon as you are eligible.”

Of the new cases, 44 were in the Fraser Health region, 17 in Vancouver Coastal, one on Vancouver Island and one in the Northern Health region.

There were three more deaths, bringing the provincial total to 1,747.

There are 1,111 active cases in B.C. with 113 people in hospital, 34 of whom are in intensive care.
