Inspiring healthy communities at the Second Annual Green Living Expo

On April 29, the City will host the second annual Green Living Expo at the Sandman Centre from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

This year’s free, family-friendly event will host a full day of speakers and workshops, free yoga classes, a food truck festival, and over 50 exhibitor booths! Visitors will have a chance to test drive an electric car, get their hands dirty in garden demonstrations, learn about micro-greens, ask questions about pollinators, and interact with the wide range of community organizations that support arts, culture, and sustainability in Kamloops.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore themes of energy and the environment, health and wellness, sustainable transportation, cultural and social sustainability, and food and urban agriculture. The City will host several booths featuring healthy backyard tips, water conservation, parks and recreation, the new recycling program, and transportation.

Our day-long speaker series will include inspiring presentations on healthy backyards, food matters, pests and pollinators, and sustainable residential energy systems. Our interactive workshops will cover eco-baby basics, green building and co-housing, urban agriculture and permaculture, creative upcycling, and “bikes for all types.”

The Kids’ Zone will feature hands-on activities with BIG Little Science Centre, the YMCA, the Bright Red Book Bus, Makerspace, and others.

This year, we have added a food truck festival and two free (bring your own mat) yoga classes to the event. There will be a family-friendly class at 11:00 am and a Foundational Flow for All Levels class at 2:00 pm.

Rain Barrels and Tree Coupons

There are 200 tree coupons available that will be given to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Although rain barrels are not available for pickup at the Expo, residents who pre-order at the Expo will receive an additional five dollars off the discounted price.
