The B.C. SPCA is asking for help after a young cat was found shivering and crying outside of a vet clinic in the cold.

Holly the cat was brought to the Kelowna SPCA branch after being found outside of 24-hour-emergency vet clinic overnight, according to a B.C. SPCA media release.

“As soon as Holly arrived to the shelter, she required immediate care to stabilize and warm her,” says Sean Hogan, manager of the Kelowna location, in the release. “Bloodwork showed anemia and infection which we are treating. She is quite underweight and faces surgery when she gains enough weight. Unfortunately, she will lose her right hind leg.”

Currently Holly is gaining weight in foster care and is unable to put any weight on her hind leg.

Despite all that she’s been through, Hogan says she loves to purr when touched and likes the sound of people talking to her.

“Holly has a lot of spunk and she has shown she is a survivor,” Horgan says. “We continue to see progress and when she can get her amputation and is fully recovered, she will be ready for adoption. She will definitely brighten any home.”

The medical costs for Holly’s care are expected to be nearly $3,000.

Donations can be made online at the B.C. SPCA's website here.
