Thompson Nicola residents will likely recognize scenes from Reba McEntire's new movie The Hammer, set to premier in 2023.
A trailer was released Aug. 11 for the Lifetime made-for-TV movie starring the country singer as judge Kim Wheeler, “an outspoken, firecracker lawyer who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada,” according to IMDB. Some may even call her "a loose cannon."

In June, Merritt residents were happy to see McEntire's film crews in the community, with certain shots taking place at the Coldwater Hotel. She even posed for photos with locals.
Merritt, a city known for showcasing country music stars, has a mural of McEntire on Quilchena Avenue.
She also performed at Merritt Mountain Music Festival in 2007.
