A controlled ignition was captured in a timelapse video this week from a resident overlooking Swan Lake in the North Okanagan.

Fraser Langlands posted the video Aug. 24, showing a planned ignition for the White Rock Lake wildfire burning in the North and Central Okanagan.

The video was taken from the North BX area overlooking Swan Lake, he said in a Facebook post.

A 350-hectare planned ignition operation that day, successfully brought the fire's edge down to workable ground along the northeastern flank, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.

The White Rock Lake wildfire, burning to the west of Vernon, is 81,362 hectares in size and classified as out of control.
