A West Kelowna boy in a battle with leukemia spent his 12th birthday at B.C. Children's Hospital, but dozens of celebrities, politicians and firefighters came together to make it a special day by recording a video birthday card.

Thomas Hamanishi, 12, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2016, according to a GoFundMe page. He has received a spinal tap, a bone marrow harvest, blood transfusions and chemotherapy. His treatment is expected to be at least three years. The George Pringle Elementary student loves hockey, soccer and hanging out with family and friends.

Kelowna entrepreneur Matthew August with the August Family Foundation and the Okanagan Dream Rally put together a video birthday card, starring some people you may have seen before, including Ryan Reynolds and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
