A Kelowna woman is encouraging others to do random acts of kindness by sharing one of her own.
Crystal Flaman posted a YouTube video in October 2019, sharing her act of kindness towards a Marmalade Cat Cafe barista.
Along with her friends, the video shows Flaman donating more than $2,000 in gift cards and tips to 20-year-old Mercedes.
“About three months I decided to send an email to 50 of my favourite friends and invite them to save their coffee money so we could do a not-so-random act of kindness for a worthy recipient,” Flaman said in the video.
“We wanted to do something to create a ripple effect.”
Mercedes was overwhelmed with tips and gift cards from strangers. She also received a new bicycle, since she doesn’t drive.
“If we can create a ripple effect in someone else’s life, then they’ll create a ripple effect and who knows, maybe it just might change the world,” Flaman said in the video.
