The B.C. Wildlife Park in Kamloops will be reopening on June 1.
The wildlife park announced its reopening date today, May 22. The park has been closed since March 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The park will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as ofJune 1, according to a B.C. Wildlife Park Facebook post.
"Throughout our temporary closure the words of encouragement that we’ve received alongside the outpour of support has been incredible, and we are so excited to welcome you back," stated the post.
The reopening follows uncertainty from the park last month, as the executive director raised concerns about financial strain if they were unable to re-open this summer.
Park guests can expect their visit to be a little different than before, as the park has adopted safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Some services have been temporarily suspended, such as the Wildlife Express Miniature train, wheelchair, stroller and wagon rentals and other programming.
However, The Blue Heron Café will be open for take-out orders. The gift shop will also be operating, with a limit on the number of guests allowed in store at once.
The wildlife park urges people to stay home if they are feeling unwell or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
