KAMLOOPS — They can be funny or they can be sexy.
The owner of a Kamloops photography business is encouraging more men to participate in photo sessions through a dudeoir photo shoot.
Amanda Wilson, a photographer and co-owner of Beauty in the Raw, says it can be challenging to attract male models.
“We have been trying to do a lot more couple boudoir sessions and we have always thought that women were the ones who needed this,” Wilson says.
Recently, the photographer says she had a single female client request a couple boudoir shoot and found it exhausting to find a male counterpart to join her.
“She tried to convince several different guys to attend this sessions with her and they wouldn’t because they were too self-conscious,” she says. “That was an eye opener for us here and made us see that men needed a way to express themselves as well.”
A dudeoir session could be funny such as this one that features male model Kris Fraser in a mermaid theme shoot, or they can be more serious just like a typical boudoir shoot.
“I find a lot of men tend to go towards the humour side of it,” Wilson says. “Their significant others seem to find they enjoy the humour and they can see the sex appeal in it as well.”
Even though the photoshoots can be silly or goofy, Wilson says these shoots have a significant impact on how people feel about themselves.
“It does amazing things for you, it shows you what you look like from other peoples’ eyes,” she says.
Beauty in the Raw photo packages start from $300 and every month has a different theme. June is currently UV paint, July will be Bohemian Goddess, and August is cowboy and girls.
