As children are unable to have birthday parties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, communities have been stepping up and getting creative to make these kids' birthdays special, all while respecting social distancing.

In Kamloops, Lily Philcox celebrated her 6th birthday this weekend, with the help of the Westsyde community, the Kamloops Harley Owners group and the Kamloops car club. These locals teamed up and gave her a parade on Saturday, shouting happy birthday as they rode past on motorcycles and in cars.

"I was surprised," said Lily, who stood on the side of the road holding balloons as the parade passed.

"It made me feel special."

The Kamloops chapter of Bikers Against Bullying also gave Lily one of its shirts for her birthday.

The group had never met the birthday girl before, but they jumped at the opportunity to make her big day special.
