SUN PEAKS — Towers have arrived for a new Orient chairlift at Sun Peaks

Yesterday, Dec. 1, at Sun Peaks Resort, skiers and riders watched as the towers for the new Orient chairlift were flown into position by helicopter, a media release says.

The new four-passenger fixed-grip chairlift, located in the East Village area of the resort, is on track to open in time for Christmas. This addition to the resort's lift network will significantly improve access to the main village, and to some of the most under-utilized ski terrain.

The arrival of the towers had been delayed this week awaiting optimal flying conditions. About 30 centimetres of new snow blanketed the slopes in the past week. Sun Peaks' alpine base is up to more than 90 centimetres, with 79 runs now open across the resort's three mountains.
