iN VIDEO: Fresh and local ingredients are the feature of this Kelowna food truck

Try tasty tacos at YLW Tacos new location at The District on Bernard.

YLW Tacos lovers can now enjoy fresh, locally sourced tacos year-round with its latest expansion.

The business opened its first permanent location at The District on Bernard in Kelowna’s downtown last week, said Adria Cresswell, manager with the taco truck company.

“We started as a food truck about five years ago. We started with a small yellow food truck which is why we came up with the name YLW Yellow Food Truck at the time and it just kind of stuck,” she said.

Everything is made in-house, including the taco shells, she said. Everything on the menu is gluten-free aside from the burrito wrapper, she said.

While the truck is no longer yellow, you can still find it at ONE Boardshop off of Harvey Avenue at 2330 Highway 97 N.

“It’s been going so well and we’ve been so busy and everyone’s been happy with our tacos and burritos that we decided we could expand,” she said.

For first-timers, she recommends the fish with avocado tacos or the roasted pork belly burritos, two very popular items.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

YLW Tacos is part of a short video series which explores Central Okanagan food culture. Stay tuned for more features during the summer.
