iN VIDEO: Fly far above the Coquihalla and soak in its best winter angles

The Coquihalla is one of the most talked-about roads in the Southern Interior and rarely is it mentioned in glowing terms.

This is particularly true in winter when its highest point, which is 1.244m (4,081ft) above sea level, gets snow and ice and conditions become treacherous.

Its reputation earned a television show Highway Thru Hell, following Jamie Davis Motor Trucking, a heavy vehicle rescue and recovery towing company that’s based in Hope and works on Highway 5.

Despite that, if you’re not handling the roads, it can be beautiful, which is something made very clear in a video posted to YouTube recently.

An account named Curious Soul posted a drone view video of the Coquihalla Highway, near Falls Lake, using a modified camera with a wide-angle lens and no filters — and the result is heavenly.
