Widespread flooding that prompted the closure of the Sumas border crossing has receded and the roads between the US and Canada have reopened.

The Washington State Department of Traffic said SR-9 was closed at 10 a.m. today, Feb. 3, despite the border crossing being reopened. Crews were working to inspect it for flood damage.

Around 11:15 a.m. the State said crews reopened the route, and that all four nearby border crossings were open and accessible.

The damage around the region, however, has been extensive and reversing it will likely be a lengthy process.

Watch this video to see what some familiar landmarks across the border have endured.
