While blowing snow, wind warnings and a drop in temperatures kept most people off the roadways during yesterday’s snowstorm in Kamloops, one elderly woman decided to brave the cold on her mobility scooter.

The woman in Kamloops was filmed riding her mobility scooter on Westsyde Road yesterday, Jan. 12, according to a Twitter post by Emily Bogstie.

“911 has been called…but damn this is a new one,” Bogstie says in her post.

Kamloops RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police responded to the incident after receiving calls. When an officer arrived to speak with the woman, she said the reason why she was on the road was because there was snow everywhere.

"She didn't know the weather was so bad otherwise she wouldn't have left in the first place," Shelkie says. "Some good samaritans were already helping her get her scooter off the road and driving her home."
