Temperatures are back below 0 in Kamloops and the Okanagan today, Jan. 22.
Kamloops is in for a sunny day with temperatures ranging between -1 Celsius and -4 C, according to Environment Canada. Vernon and Kelowna will both be mainly sunny with a high of 0 and low of -4. Temperatures will inch above freezing in Penticton, where there will be a high of 2 C this afternoon before dropping to -3 C tonight.
On the roads, DriveB.C. is reporting that Highway 1 has compact snow from Kamloops to Sicamous and slippery sections between Spences Bridge and Cache Creek; Highway 3 has compact snow east of Osoyoos; Highway 97 has slippery sections from Okanagan Falls to Kelowna and slushy sections from Kelowna to Coldstream; Highway 97A is slushy with compact snow between Enderby and Sicamous; and Highway 97C has fog patches between Pennask summit and West Kelowna and compact snow from Highland Valley Copper Mine and the end of the highway.
At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort is reporting 4 centimetres of new snow and 29 centimetres over the past week. There has been 10 cm of snow at Sun Peaks Ski Resort since yesterday and 15 cm over the past week; SilverStar Mountain Resort has a fresh snow depth of 5 cm today; and Apex Mountain Resort is reporting 6 cm of new snow and 17 cm of snow over the past week.
