in RESPONSE to our awesome newsletter
Thank you for the great newsletter. I look forward to reading it each day. Thank you. — Debbie Oakland, via email
Okanagan Conservative MLA votes against NDP motion to condemn Trump
Hi Marshall, I would ask the MLA 'why'. Do your constituents agree with you? You should only vote for your constituents, that is democracy. — Ken Caldwell, via email
—
I truly appreciate your efforts and for the most part find the stories to be balanced and impartial, until now. The headline indicating a Conservative MLA refusing to denounce Trump is just click-bait in my opinion. The members voted against countervailing Canadian tariffs, not against his majesty King Trump. I am sure you will do better in the future. — Jim Guillaume, via email
iN RESPONSE to Friday, Feb. 28 newsletter editorial regarding community input on BC Housing projects
We need more rehabilitation centres is what we need. Proper treatment with housing aftercare, this is what we really need right now! — Danielle Bishop, via email
LETTER: The fight for truth and democracy starts with your local reporter
Bravo. — Bonnie Derry, via iNFOnews.ca

Well written Adam. Most of us will be quite safe today, eat reasonably well, watch TV and have a pleasant evening. The person who complains that Canada is broken, while having multiple televisions, two or more cars in the garage, and regularly go on international holidays really has no idea how insulated from the rest of the world we really are. We worry about cross border shopping. A lot of people in the world worry about cross border shelling. — William Mastop, via iNFOnews.ca
Former NHL player sued by City of Vernon over unpaid parking tickets
He feels entitled to park for free because he’s special? — Robert Bishop, via iNFOnews.ca

After a year, it's unclear how long Kamloops' highest paid employee will be on leave
I am in disbelief. — Cathy Sanborn, via iNFOnews.ca

I would vote for Reid again. It’s time for some DOGE in Canada. City’s are being run by managers rather than elected officials. If you don’t agree with city staff, you’re blackballed. — Kim Young, via iNFOnews.ca
Kamloops council caught off guard by BC Housing plan for new homeless shelter
Is this proposed building going to be a shelter, a transitional centre or permanent supportive housing? These are three completely different things. — Holland Marshall, via iNFOnews.ca
Okanagan Conservative MLA votes against NDP motion to condemn Trump
I am amazed that she said what she said. If anyone is making a political joke out of this issue, it is the five that voted against the unity of Canada vs. Trump. She has voted against all the citizens in Canada, not just in B.C. Thank goodness she isn’t in my riding and can only feel sorry for the citizens from Coldstream, who are so different from Lake Country and Kelowna. — Marti Giroux

It’s the hard right folks. Not sure their politics will sell to the Canadian majority. — Dick Dawson, via iNFOnews.ca

iN RESPONSE to Monday, Feb. 24 newsletter editorial on interprovincial trade barriers
I am a Canadian first who, by choice, lives in British Columbia. It has been a conversational topic most of my life. Why do the provinces have trade barriers between each other? Free enterprise depends on a competitive market to allow the consumer the best product for the best price. This is only one concept I have pondered. The other is why does Canada not have a universal education policy? A mechanic, electrician, teacher, doctor, nurse, lawyer, truck driver, or any of many trades and professions have to be certified in each province. Are we not all Canadians? From St. John's Newfoundland to Victoria, there should not any qualification tests to enable that qualified person to practice their skills anywhere in Canada. I served six years in the Canadian Armed Forces, I swore allegiance to Canada - not to B.C. or any other province. I now would like, after this treatment from the U.S., is for all Canadians to come together to fight the aggression from south of the border. — George Miller, via email

Marshall, I took down my flag when the 'convoy-ers' stole it and made it dirty. We have taken it back. I now have a flag flying again. The only good thing Trump did was restore our flag and our patriotism. — Craig Jefferson, Kamloops, via email
JONESIE: The only ones who could stop a (potential) US dictatorship
Well demonstrated Mr. Jones. Jeez, I sure hope people will understand your message and recognize themselves for who they really are. Ignorance is so dangerous. — Helen Price, via iNFOnews.ca
Vernon contractor charged $800 for a quote, then sued the customer
Aslan has more entries for civil court actions than many lawyers do. They have more small claims matters over the last 25 years than any other plumbing and heating company in Vernon. I get that they win sometimes, maybe they win often, but, any business that is in small claims court that often has something seriously wrong with their business practices. If you end up in court against a client, that’s a part of life and is unfortunate. If you end up in court against a client hundreds of times, well, there’s a common denominator to that. — William Mastop, via iNFOnews.ca

The whole meaning of the term “estimate” speaks for itself. You would not need an estimate if you were prepared to agree to the job at the onset. That’s why we get estimates. If the estimate costs it needs to be stated up front. “We charge such and such for an estimate”, and any company that is decent deducts that estimate from the bill if you proceed. This company doesn’t seem to care about integrity or its reputation and needs to be named and shamed widely online. Caveat Emptor. — Noah Liguori, via iNFOnews.ca
TRU student's career aspirations shattered by 'unfair' university investigation
As usual, both sides are guilty of not having the same opinion, however, it seems that the university is keeping to the side of the money train. — Kanuck Sxysven, via iNFOnews.ca
—
These investigations set up by employers are often unfair and specially designed to find the person who was harassed as the problem. WorkSafeBC doesn’t validate the methodology or ensure standards are met. The whole process is set up to benefit the employer over the complainants all throughout government and no doubt private sector too. — James Seldon, via iNFOnews.ca
LIFELONG VOLUNTEER: Kamloops man goes above and beyond for the community
Jeremy is a great guy with a heart of gold. So glad that he’s being recognized for his tremendous contributions to this community. — Rick Windjack, via iNFOnews.ca
Former Fintry Queen owner sued over unpaid $50,000
And thats why handshake deals don’t work. — David Payne, via iNFOnews.ca
A refugee painter’s journey from Kyiv to Kelowna
Thank you for the feature on Stefania Miro, her life experiences as shared are both humbling and heartening. I am thankful she has a safe haven here in Kelowna. I read a chapter of her book, sadly it is only available via Amazon. Ah well, it reminds me of how my dad helped a woman from Iraq write an account of life in Iraq, she is like an adopted daughter to him. — Patrick Longworth, via email
