In secret, OKIB council members awarded themselves a huge pay increase

Well, if they haven't had a raise in 13 years I can understand a significant amount in order to bring salaries up to current standards. Everything costs a lot more today than it did 13 years ago. After all, nothing is free. Nobody works for free. I think the Band should develop an automatic formula for annual increases. Maybe a cost of living increase plus a percentage that is acceptable to all, but not in secret, that looks a little shady. — Geoffrey King

Senior photographs and reflects on decaying family sawmill in Kamloops backcountry

I didn't live at the camp, but my brother and I painted the buildings in early 1960s not long before it closed down. Thanks Darrel, for the photos and memories, and your story. — Russ Dreger

JONESIE: The importance of local news? Please

Yes, I do appreciate the local news. It keeps me informed of what is happening in the Okanagan. — Sandy Richet

Unsurprisingly, goose poop still a massive problem on Okanagan beaches

You should let dogs on the beach, they would keep the geese away and dog owners pick up the dog poop. Problem solved. — Hilda Wohlford

Great update to a story about nothing being done. I agree with those who say the problem at Kin Beach gets worse every year. I live near there and I'm astounded at how many more geese there are every year as well as on the grass at Marshall Fields. Addling doesn't seem to work. During my walk this spring I saw dozens of goslings in three different spots. — Tom G. Mark

Kamloops crime severity at 15-year high

It’s interesting and disheartening to hear these council members scrambling to make excuses for the latest crime statistics for Kamloops. It doesn’t come as any great surprise to those of us watching what’s happening to our city. Council need to take ownership of the dismal job they’re doing to protect the citizens from crime. The Mayor has tried to put motions forward to council to address crime in our city, but he never once got a seconder from this council to even discuss his proposals. This council has been playing silly bugger at city hall and the crime stats prove it. — Kathrine Blair

Vernon musician suing Interior Health Authority over delayed diagnosis

Good for him. I had a similar response, but fortunately no open heart surgery. The radiology technician told the on shift Doctor that I was not important, yet two days later when I got results, my blood was so low I was seizing up, all my muscles, my legs and my ribs. I am darn lucky I have the health portal and do self therapy by research. I have never felt so disregarded in a hospital, mainly Vernon Jubilee, in my entire life. Pay attention people. Make sure you make yourself a priority. — Nellie Walraven
