A professional Kamloops photographer got in a pool with weights on to do a unique photoshoot with members of the Kamloops Sunrays synchronized swim team a couple of weeks ago.

Bonnie Pryce said the idea for an underwater photo shoot came from one of the swimmers and the other girls on the team were interested in joining in the fun.

“I borrowed a friend’s underwater point and shoot and we got in the water and played,” she said. “The girls changed into dresses and I gave them pointers on how to move in the water. I was in there for almost two hours and got wrinkled.”

A former competitive swimmer, Pryce was up to the task.

“It was a very fun day, the girls had a blast and we were happy with the pictures,” she said. “I took an image of one girl and put her into a scene and did a composite, so I’m trying to do one for each of the girls.”

Pryce said since posting the photos on social media she has received “such a good response” that others have reached out to her for underwater shoots.

Pryce is a retired physiotherapist who is passionate about photography. She works on location for the Kamloops Film Commission and does some work for the university. She has done photo shoots in other countries, and as an active hiker, skier and paddler she loves photographing nature and natural landscapes.
