With less winds, South Okanagan residents are breathing a sigh relief, capturing images of the smoky Christie Mountain wildfire this morning.
Residents are reporting smoke but few flames, Aug. 22. The fire is still mapped at 2,000 hectares. A millimetre of rainfall fell yesterday and there was only an estimated 35 hectares of growth since Aug. 21, according to the BC Wildfire Service's latest update.

"The winds from the south pushing north yesterday did not significantly increase the fire," according to the update. "The fire is burning in difficult rocky sloped terrain with limited access points for ground crews and heavy equipment."
