Photographers are capturing stunning images of a brightly lit holiday train as it chugs west across the country through cities and towns, illuminating the countryside.

Two Canadian Pacific Kansas City holiday trains left Montreal on Nov. 21, with one heading into parts of the U.S. and one travelling across Canada making stops along the way in an annual fundraiser for food banks.

Each stop has performances from professional singers and an appearance by Santa. This year's performers are Magic! and Sofia Camara.

While the events are free for families to attend, CPKC encourages people to make a monetary or heart-healthy food donation for local food banks.

Since 1999, the Holiday Train program has raised more than $24.3 million for community food banks.

The Canadian train made its first stops in B.C. in Golden and Revelstoke on Monday, Dec. 16 and will be making stops in several small towns before arriving in Kamloops at 5 p.m., Dec. 18 at the Sandman Centre on Lorne Street.
