OSOYOOS - Icy road conditions were a factor in a single vehicle collision that left a tractor-trailer hanging over an embankment on the weekend.

RCMP say a tractor-trailer heading eastbound on Highway 3 near Richter Pass lost control on an icy section of the highway on Saturday, Nov. 24 around 7:20 a.m.

The unit plowed through a barrier and came to rest while hanging over the embankment.

The driver, and only occupant, was taken to hospital as a precaution, but appeared uninjured at the scene, police say.

The collision closed Highway 3 for several hours while the tractor-trailer was removed.
