Mark Blucher named as interim CEO of Insurance Corporation of B.C.

VANCOUVER - The Insurance Corporation of B.C. has a new interim president and CEO.

He's Mark Blucher, who's been serving as a senior vice-president for the public auto insurer.

Blucher replaces Jon Schubert, who announced in August he was leaving the Insurance Corporation, but would remain as a paid consultant until next June with a full salary.

Schubert's announcement came the same day the provincial government released a review that said ICBC was overstaffed and managers were being paid too much.

The government ordered the corporation to cut up to 195 positions, most of them from management.

It also told the company to bring the pay scale for managers more in line with the rest of the public sector.
