VERNON - Stan Lawlor says when he first saw the huge buck that's taken to hanging around the back yard of his Vernon condo building he thought it was a caribou.
"I've never seen a deer that size before," Lawlor said. "I lived in northern Ontario for forty years and I saw lots of deer there but never anything like this."
Lawlor said the buck turned up in the backyard of his Centennial Drive condo building three or four days ago seems to like it there.
The buck is "extremely" well-fed and clean, Lawlor said, describing the buck as "majestic."
"Horses aren't as well-groomed as this," he adds.
The condo building is dog-free and so far nothing has scared the buck away, and it has been coming in and out of the yard over the last few days.
"I'm maybe exaggerating at 600 to 700 pounds, but it's 500 to 600," he said.
While Lawlor has seen plenty of deer in the yard over the six years he's lived there, the buck is the biggest deer he's ever seen anywhere.
