For one minute and 39 seconds, Vernon photographer Carla Hunt managed to get a close enough view of a bobcat that she could count its whiskers.

Hunt said, in a Facebook post she gave permission to quote from, that when she first saw the cat from a distance she thought it was a coyote.

“It was that big,” she said.

“As I got closer, I was like, that's no coyote. When I was in range for a shot, OMG, a huge beautiful Bobcat … just amazing.”

The bobcat had massive paws, beautiful markings and piercing eyes  and when it caught sight of her she said he considered his options “attack, run or carry on.”

“He chose to carry on and I carried on my way so I didn't disrupt his hunting,” she said.

“As I walked away, I stopped to take one last look. He pounced on something. So amazing to witness this beautiful animal thriving so well .”
