KAMLOOPS — As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau makes his way to Kamloops this week, multiple groups are planning rallies or protests for his arrival.

Trudeau will be in Kamloops tomorrow, Jan. 9, for a Liberal Party of Canada fundraiser which is geared towards gaining support for the federal election on Oct. 21, 2019. He will speak at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre and tickets for the Liberal Party event are priced at $300 but are reduced if you’re under 25 or if you contribute monthly to the Liberals.

Dennis Giesbrecht with Share B.C. is asking the public to come out and support "responsible resource development" at a brown bag lunch event at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Coast Kamloops Hotel, according to his Facebook page.

"We will host a bag lunch for those who can't afford the $300 Liberal fundraising lunch," Giesbrecht says in a post.

The Tiny House Warriors plan to protest Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, according to a Facebook event.

“Please join Tiny House Warriors to confront Justin Trudeau and give a clear message there is no Indigenous consent for Canada’s Trans Mountain pipeline in Kamloops, Unceded Secwepemc Territory,” the group says in the post. So far, nearly 50 people have confirmed their attendance tomorrow from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Tiny House Warrior members have made headlines for their protests across B.C. including this past summer in Clearwater at the North Thompson River Provincial Park for their protest against the Trans Mountain pipeline, where the group's spokesperson Kanahus Manuel was arrested for allegedly defying an eviction order from B.C. Parks.

Members of a group called Yellow Vests Kamloops also plan to be outside the Liberal fundraiser tomorrow, according to a Facebook event.

Trudeau will also be holding a town hall-style meeting at Thompson Rivers University at 7 p.m. tomorrow to answer questions from attendees. The free event will take place at the Old Thompson Rivers University Gym and the doors will open at 5 p.m.
