How Google Street View got welcomed to Peachland

The people in this car seemed to know exactly who was in front of them in traffic in 2018.

When Google and then other companies set out to take images of every inch of public road for their mapping apps, they managed to capture lots of bizarre and funny images, and now you can add Peachland to that list.

Google Street View is a function of Google maps, allowing you to 'drop' right onto the street where you have 360-degree views of what the area actually looks like from the ground. The cameras have captured impending accidents, weird animal scenes and strange vehicles and bicycles and funny time-lapsed distorted people. In later iterations, it also captured plenty of people who appear to be looking for them to stage a funny scene.

In the September 2018 version, if you drop onto Highway 97 right at Antlers Beach and look behind, you'll see a funny-looking car with two people who appear to be saluting the camera-toting Google car for some time. It was first reported in a Facebook group called Peachland Neighbours. Two people in that forum have already staked their claim to the fame.

To see it, drop the little yellow stick man on the map below on Highway 97 near Hardy Street and look to the southbound traffic or just behind the Google car for the welcome.
