A plume of smoke from a house fire in the North Shuswap today no doubt sparked calls to the BC Wildfire Service.

The home on Bastion Mountain, about two kilometres up a forest service road, burned to the ground today, Sep. 18, according to a regional district media release.

The home was engulfed by fire when members of the Tappen Sunnybrae Fire Department arrived.

The fire is still burning, but firefighters contained the blaze and are working to put it out completely. They also stopped it from spreading into the surrounding forest.

The regional district said the fire was put on the BC Wildfire Service online dashboard but point out it's not a wildfire.

Fire investigators are unsure of what caused the fire as the investigation continues.
