UPDATE: House gutted by fire in Barnhartvale

KAMLOOPS - Kamloops fire crews have extinguished a house fire on Barnhartvale Road this morning.

Kamloops Fire Rescue says firefighters were called to the home in the 6500 block of Barnhartvale road at around 6:05 a.m. today, June 4.

The fire was fully involved when crews arrived, and was extinguished at approximately 8 a.m.

That wasn't enough time to save the home that belonged to Tim Cole, his father and two tenants.

"I was doing laundry this morning," Cole says. "All the sudden I smelled smoke and the alarms went off."

He then went into the laundry room and saw the flames. It was his tenants who called 9-11.

Cole says he will likely stay with his aunt while they are displaced.

Platoon Capt. Wade Lindoff says they do not know what caused the fire at this time, but an investigator is on scene.

No one was hurt in the fire.
