Homicide team investigating Surrey shooting

SURREY - One person is dead after sustaining gunshot injuries in Surrey. 

The Surrey RCMP received a report of a shooting in the 13900 block of 58A Avenue, a media release says. Police were called at about 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 1. 

On the scene they found an adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds. All attempts to revive them were unsuccessful. 

Shortly after receiving reports of the shooting, Surrey RCMP were notified of a vehicle on fire in the area of King George Boulevard and Colebrook Road. It is not yet known if these are linked.

Both scenes are expected to be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Section.

Police are currently gathering evidence and no more information has yet been released.
