RCMP are investigating the sudden death of a 69-year-old man in the Central Interior as a homicide.

Officers from the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment were called to a home in the Sheridan Lake area on Friday, Aug. 6, for the sudden death of the 69-year-old man, according to an RCMP media release.

The officers had concerns about the death and called in the BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit.

"At this stage in the investigation this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public," 100 Mile House RCMP detachment commander Staff Sgt. Svend Nielsen said in the release.

"Members of the 100 Mile House Detachment will remain at the rural scene for the next few days as the investigation progresses."

There is also a fact-finding investigation underway by the BC Coroners Service into the man's unexpected death.

The identity of the deceased will not be released to the public.

If anyone has information regarding this matter they are encouraged to call the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
