The Kamloops RCMP is asking people to avoid 13th Street as it maintains a police presence during an ongoing investigation.
Today, Nov. 30., police responded to a report of an assault near Halston and Sudbury Avenues. During the investigation police were led to a residence on 13th Street which is known to RCMP and believed to have weapons inside, according to a press release from RCMP.
Kamloops RCMP have evacuated some nearby residences and are asking people to avoid 13th Street while there is a police presence.
“As a precaution, some of the neighbouring residences have been evacuated and a police presence in the area is expected to continue for the time being,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP said in the release.
“A portion of 13th Street is currently closed to public access, and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team is en route to assist local officers. The public is asked to please avoid the area while a visible police presence remains.”
An update will be provided when police have more information.
