TORONTO - Montreal defender Erin Ambrose, Victoire forward Abby Boreen and Minnesota Frost forward Kendall Coyne Schofield have been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League's three stars of the week.
Ambrose was named first star after she assisted on five of the six goals the Victoire scored in a pair of wins last week.
She had three assists in the Victoire's 4-2 win over defending champion Minnesota on Friday in Laval, Que., and set up both goals in Montreal's 2-1 win over Ottawa on Sunday in Quebec City.
Boreen, the week's second star, scored twice against Minnesota and had an assist against Ottawa as Montreal improved to a league-best 23 points, three more than the Frost.
Coyne Schofield, Minnesota's captain, had a goal and an assist in the Frost's 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Sirens on Wednesday en route to earning third-star honours.
She also scored in the loss to Montreal to give her 11 points, tied for the league with teammate Claire Thompson and New York’s Sarah Fillier.
