CALGARY - Three-time Olympic gold medallist Cherie Piper has retired from the Canadian women's hockey team.
The 31-year-old forward from Toronto is the third player to make that announcement in the past week following forward Sarah Vaillancourt of Sherbrooke, Que., and goaltender Kim St. Pierre of Chateauguay, Que.
Piper won Olympic gold in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
She had 40 goals and 78 assists in 111 career games over 12 seasons for Canada.
Piper last played for Canada at the 2011 world hockey championship.
