Gogolev supplies offence as the Royals edge the Cougars

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Alex Gogolev scored in regulation and then added the shootout winner as the Victoria Royals edged the host Prince George Cougars 2-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old Russian now has 19 goals and 64 points in 48 games, which is good for the club lead in points.

Patrik Polivka stopped 38-of-39 shots for the Royals (28-19-4), who halted a three-game winless streak.

Dallas Ehrhardt scored for the Cougars (16-30-7), who sit four points out of the final playoff position in the Western Conference, and Mac Engel turned away 27 shots in defeat.

Victoria went 0 for 2 on the power play while Prince George failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
