CRANBROOK, B.C. - Erik Benoit scored two goals in the third period for the Kootenay Ice in a 3-2 win over the Red Deer Rebels in Western Hockey League action Sunday.

Kootenay has now won a season-high five games in a row, the team's longest winning streak since a run of six straight in November 2011.

Sam Reinhart, who tied the game at one with less than one second left in the second period on a power-play goal, also scored for the Ice (15-24-1).

Turner Elson and Matt Bellerive replied for the Rebels (23-17-4).

Elson opened the scoring in the second with a long shot that beat Mackenzie Skapski.

After Reinhart tied the game, Benoit scored at 10:44 and 14:14 for a 3-1 Kootenay lead.

Bellerive got Red Deer within one with a goal at 16:32 that eventually ended the scoring.

Skapski finished with 21 saves, while at the other end Bolton Pouliot stopped 45 shots.
