Another Whiteout: Winnipeg Jets' flight to Minnesota rerouted due to blizzard

Original Publication Date April 14, 2018 - 3:11 PM

DULUTH, Minn. - The Winnipeg Jets' flight to Minnesota had to be rerouted Saturday because of an early spring blizzard that forced the cancellation of over 200 flights at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

The Jets and Minnesota Wild are scheduled to play Game 3 of their first-round NHL playoff series on Sunday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild returned home after Friday night's loss but the Jets spent the night in Winnipeg.

The Jets' flight Saturday was rerouted to Duluth, Minn., but ended up flying back to Winnipeg, the team said on Twitter.

The team is planning to fly again to Minneapolis-St. Paul, an area that was expecting at least 25 centimetres of snow over the weekend, on Sunday morning. Authorities have closed several highways throughout the state.

The Jets have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at Minnesota.
