BROSSARD, Qc - The Montreal Canadiens have named Martin Lapointe director of player development and Patrice Brisebois their new player development coach.

The club has also announced that Sylvain Lefebvre will be the new head coach of the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs.

Marc Bergevin, who replaced Pierre Gauthier as general manager in May, made the announcements on Wednesday.

Brisebois and Lefebvre are former Canadiens players while Lapointe is a Montreal native.

Lapointe, 38, played 14 NHL seasons with four clubs and has been a pro scout for the Chicago Blackhawks since 2009.

The 41-year-old Brisebois played 18 NHL seasons, 16 of them with Montreal, and is third in all-time games played among Canadiens defencemen behind Larry Robinson and Serge Savard. He won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993.

Lefebvre replaces Clement Jodoin, who will meet with Canadiens new head coach Michel Therrien about an assistant's position with the NHL club.

Lefebvre, 44, has been an assistant to head coach Joe Sacco with the Colorado Avalanche the last three seasons. The Richmond, Que., native played 14 NHL seasons with five teams, winning a Cup with Colorado in 1996.
