KAMLOOPS - A Jeep parked in the driveway of a home in Kamloops has been seized and removed by RCMP investigating a hit and run that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl last week.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says although the Jeep has been taken for forensic investigation, it could take a while for DNA analysis of the vehicle.

The Jeep was parked in the 1300-block of Sunshine Court in Dufferin yesterday, Nov. 7, with tarps hanging over the front end and police tape hung across the driveway.

A hit and run on Pacific Way near Abbeyglen Way in Aberdeen on Friday night, Nov. 4, claimed the life of 16-year-old Jenn Gatey, the day before her 17th birthday. Cameron Gatey says his daughter was walking to the bus stop when a car struck her about 100 feet from her house.

Shelkie has not confirmed the Jeep under investigation was the vehicle involved in the crash. RCMP released surveillance footage over the weekend of a dark-coloured Jeep driving in the area shortly after Jenn was struck.
