Penticton Search and Rescue were called to rescue a woman hiking on Pincushion Mountain near Peachland this afternoon.

The members were called shortly after noon today, Aug. 28, responding with 10 members to the Pincushion Mountain summit after a report of a female hiker in distress, search and rescue manager Randy Brown said in a social media post.

The rescue team’s air evacuation unit was deployed in addition to ground teams to the area.

A Peachland area search and rescue member climbed the mountain prior to the rest of the team’s arrival and provided useful information to attending team members, Brown said.

The woman was treated and airlifted from the summit around 3 p.m. She was then transferred to B.C. ambulance personnel who had staged nearby.
