Highway 97 Lane Closures

WEST KELOWNA – Highway 97 users are advised to plan extra time on their commute next week while the detour for the Sneena Road project is removed and traffic is shifted onto its ultimate alignment on bridge hill between Campbell Road and the Westside Road interchange.

Motorists and cyclists can anticipate daily changes in traffic patterns and evening lane closures through the construction zone from late Sunday evening through to Saturday which may result in slower moving traffic and minor delays, as well as possible schedule adjustments if there are changes in weather conditions.

Work and necessary lane closures are being scheduled to occur during the evenings between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am as much as possible with all five lanes of traffic open during peak afternoon periods.

Cyclist lanes will be maintained along the shoulders of the highway as the lanes are shifted.

The 50 km/h speed limit remains in effect through the construction zone while traffic is shifted onto its ultimate alignment and crews complete line painting and other related tasks.

Please watch for crews and equipment working in the area and obey all traffic signs and flag persons. Check DriveBC for updates and traffic advisories at www.drivebc.ca and follow DriveBC on Twitter at www.twitter.com/drivebc.
